Exercises to improve your soccer performance by DirectLaw4U

Soccer is a sport with unprecedented popularity. The “weave in weave out” is an exercise developed by Directlaw4u which will improve your balance as well as your speed. You don’t require much space for this either; just ensure that the ground isn’t slippery (like wet grass or marble tiled surfaces which directlaw4u found out the hard way!). First place 4 markers in a straight line with 5ft of distance between each of them. Now place one marker in-between each of them in another line parallel to the first one with 5 ft distance between the two lines of markers.

You now have a zig zag track ready. Run through the markers while tagging(touching) each one of them. You will eventually learn that the fastest way is by taking quicker steps rather than turning your body completely. Have someone to time you with a stop watch; your times should fall over time. Perform this exercise frequently and you will develop better ball control in matches.

Another useful exercise; this one is similar to the game of tag. Basically you mark out an area, 20 by 20 metres and get a team mate to run around in it. Your job is to follow. Get your team mate to make abrupt turns, change directions, run faster and so on. This activity will develop your reflexes and ‘teach’ your muscles to react faster and in what way according to Directlaw4U. You will also gain experience and be able to foresee an opponent’s move based on body language. 

Whichever exercise you perform, remember to focus on quality rather than quantity. You need to maintain proper form as well as take each muscle through its full range of motion.
